Now that the moon and the whale are finished, I'm doing some studies to explore the portrait painting. Jarrod has made a wire-frame poser file which the face was based on. I used that sketch to improvise these tests from. The image resembles a mask, which I am very happy about.

| Some of the tests, like the one above, reminded me of an image of something that I had seen before. I thought about it and remembered a photo I saw of an ancient Chinese jade burial suit mask. |
